Partial Hospitalization (PHP)
Partial hospitalization offers substantial daytime treatment without an overnight hospital stay. Programs commonly meet for several hours on multiple days each week. The exact schedule and services depend on the program and your treatment plan.

How does PHP work?
Care can include individual and group therapy, psychiatric assessment, medication management, and coordinated recovery support. You return home or to separately arranged housing after sessions. Housing is not automatically included in PHP, even if a provider also operates a residence.
Who might consider PHP?
PHP may be appropriate for someone who needs more structure than standard outpatient care but does not require round-the-clock hospital supervision. It can also be a step down from inpatient care. A clinician should assess withdrawal risk, safety outside program hours, co-occurring conditions, and available support.
Practical planning
Confirm the daily timetable, transportation, meals, attendance expectations, and support outside office hours. Ask whether housing is optional, separately billed, or required by the program. Insurance authorization for treatment does not necessarily cover accommodation or every related service.
